God allows us to have struggles in this life and He allows and uses trials for our refinement. Along with the trials of life comes temptation to sin. James makes clear that while God uses trials to test our faith so that we might grow and mature, God does not tempt us to sin. We are to use our trials as occasions for rejoicing, not as excuses for sinning. James gives us a proper understanding of temptation as he addresses its origin, anatomy, and solution.
